Family Activities 

Tayto Park 

Named after one of Ireland's most popular snacks, the fantastic Tayto Park consists of a Theme Park & Zoo. With over 100 attractions, a Tayto Factory tour and the largest wooden rollercoaster in Europe hours of family fun are guaranteed. 

Funtasia Waterpark 

Located just 2 minutes off the M1 motorway this fantastic entertainment center includes a pirates cove interactive waterpark, featuring over 200 water gushing activities including the adrenalin pumping superbowl speed slide and the boomerang. Other attractions include the Atlantis Cove play area, a 14 lane bowling alley, roller skating rink, crazy golf, rock climbing, video games, simulators and lots lots more! 

Ardgillan Castle and Gardens Castle

This is a wonderful location for families to enjoy the open air with 194 acres of rolling pastureland, mixed woodland and gardens, overlooking the Irish Sea. The Castle itself was built in 1738 and has scheduled tours (fee applies).  Facilities include tea rooms within the castle, a lovely picnic area, rose gardens, and a walled kitchen garden.

Newgrange Farm 

Newgrange Farm is a 333 acre farm situated in the beautiful and historic Boyne Valley and surrounds the famous National Monument of Newgrange. This is a genuine family owned and run working farm / educational facility, where adults and children can try the "hands on" experience of bottle feeding, feeding, holding, petting, and seeing all the usual farm animals and poultry, and much, much more.  When you have worked up a good appetite enjoy traditional home cooked food in The Old Byre Coffee Shop or relax in one of the outdoor or indoor picnic areas.

Pudden Hill Family Activity Centre 

The Ark Puddenhill Play Centre is one of Ireland’s premier family entertainment centres with a diverse range of indoor and outdoor activities guaranteed to make a great family fun day out.

Newbridge House and Traditional Farm 

Newbridge House is a very fine example of a true Georgian mansion within Newbridge Demesne Regional Park. It was built in 1736 and remained the family home of the Cobbe family until 1985 when it was acquired by the County Council which undertook an extensive programme of renovation and refurbishment to return the house to its 18th-century glory. On the grounds are the Newbridge Traditional Farm and a beautiful walled garden. 

Cinemas

There is an excellent choice of cinemas available locally including the Omniplex Cinema in Balbriggan or 'Movies@Swords' which is located in the Pavilions Shopping Centre, Swords. 

Newgrange Falconry

Newgrange Falconry offers a stimulating, unique and memorable experience in the ancient art of Falconry. Displays, lessons and walking trips are all available. 

Causey Farm 

The Murtagh family will give you a warm welcome and an enjoyable day as you take part in many aspects of Irish country life. Make traditional Irish bread, cut turf, dance a jig, milk a cow and much more. The farm also offers team building days which can include a competitive element suitable for corporate groups. (All activities must be pre-booked)

 

Outdoor Activities 

Táin Adventure Centre

Táin Adventure Centre is situated on Carlingford Lough at the foot of the Cooley Mountains. The extensive outdoor adventure programme includes activities such as sailing, canoeing, windsurfing, kayaking and rock climbing. 

Shopping

With the Pavillions shopping centre in Swords, the coastal town of Balbriggan and the historic town of Drogheda with its two large shopping centres and abundance of family-run shops, art gallery, museum, restaurants and cafes on your doorstep, some retail therapy and some tempting patisseries are never far from reach. 

 

Historical Attractions 

Battle of the Boyne 

The Battle of the Boyne site at Oldbridge is where William of Orange defeated James II in 1690, one of the most significant events in Irish history. A new Visitor Centre was opened on site in  May 2008.

Bru Na Boinne Newgrange

The passage tomb at Newgrange, arguably Ireland’s most famous monument, is the jewel in the crown of the Brú na Bóinne site. The site has been designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, due to its outstanding cultural legacy. On site is an excellent Interpretive Centre.

Trim Castle 

Trim Castle is the largest, best-preserved & most impressive Anglo-Norman castle in Ireland. The castle was most famously used as a filming location for the 1995 film Braveheart with Mel Gibson which was filmed at Trim Castle, the building doubled as a number of Scottish and English castles.

Slane Castle

Situated in the stunningly beautiful Boyne valley overlooking the River Boyne just a few miles upstream from the site of the famous Battle of the Boyne. Slane Castle is the home of the Conyngham family. Steeped in history and with the river Boyne flowing below the Castle, it has a mystical quality. Guests can enjoy an informative tour of the Castle which was built in 1785 and is principally the work of three famous architects; James Wyatt, James Gandon & Francis Johnston. We provide guided historical tours throughout the Castle which will give you an opportunity to learn about the Conyngham Family, the history of the building and all about the concerts that have been held at the venue over the years
